Cranbrook Food Bank takes step to expand
At the Cranbrook Food Bank, our mission is to steward the collection and free distribution of food and give it to those in need.
In 2021, we moved to our new location. We welcomed two Community Connections programs, Cranbrook Food Recovery and Farm Kitchen, to operate from our space.
Since then, the need that we are responding to has increased remarkably.
Indeed, food bank use across Canada is breaking historical records. We find ourselves at the point where we need to make tough choices to keep up with our evolving landscape.
We have made the difficult decision to ask Cranbrook Food Recovery and Farm Kitchen to relocate their operations later this summer to allow us to expand our programming to fulfill our mission most effectively.
We appreciate working and growing with Cranbrook Food Recovery and Farm Kitchen over the last two years.
We wish them every success as they continue to work towards their respective mandates, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition.
Looking forward, having full use of our facilities will allow us to provide prepared, nutritious meals for our clients with a focus on food literacy. We have learned that many of our clients require support with ready meals due to a lack of kitchen facilities or health limitations.
We are dedicated to meeting our clients where they are and see this as a challenging but essential step to evolving our programming to continue supporting our clients’ needs.
If you have questions about this change, please reach out to our Board President, Deborah Russon, at [email protected]
Thank you for your continued support of our food bank!
