Cranbrook theatre gets $35,800
Cranbrook’s Studio/Stage Door Theatre has received $35,800 in federal government funding.
The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, along with David Wilks, Member of Parliament for Kootenay—Columbia, announced support for upgrades to the Cranbrook Community Theatre Society’s Studio/Stage Door Theatre under the Harper Government’s Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
With the investment of $35,800, the Cranbrook Community Theatre Society will upgrade the theatre by improving the entrance to the building and installing wheelchair accessible washrooms.
“I am proud to see Cranbrook benefit from this Fund,” said Wilks. “This investment will improve the accessibility of a valued community asset.”
“Cranbrook Community Theatre is committed to delivering theatre by the community to the community,” said Cranbrook Community Theatre President Lorraine Harvey. “We are grateful to Minister Yelich and the Government of Canada for investing in the upgrading of the Studio/Stage Door.”
“Our Government is committed to creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity in our communities across Canada,” said Minister Yelich. “Through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund, we are helping to boost economic prosperity while improving local infrastructure.”
