Drug trafficking arrests take place near school

rcmplogoOn May 30, RCMP executed a search warrant on a residence on 2nd Ave South, Cranbrook, right across the street from Parkland Middle School.

Police had received information that the subjects were actively involved in trafficking and sold to students. This heighted police concern and an investigation was quickly initiated.

Three persons who resided in the house were arrested and police recommend charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.  Six bags of marijuana weighing either one or one half of an ounce were seized. Although the quantity was not significant police were able to obtain evidence to support trafficking.

While police were at the residence a dance was being held at the school. There was no risk to students at the time.

Police are relieved to effectively shut down a trafficking operation that was operating in close proximity to a school.
