Elk Valley Nordic Centre officially opened
The Elk Valley Nordic Society held a grand opening on Saturday, March 7 for the Elk Valley Nordic Centre.
The ceremony featured legendary Canadian cross-country skier Beckie Scott, who won a gold medal in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games.
In addition to Scott, who handed Elk Valley Nordic Society members their trophy (for being Kootenay champs), the ceremony was marked with words from Fernie Nordic Society President Megan Lohmann and City of Fernie Mayor Mary Giuliano.
The Elk Valley Nordic Centre features a warming hut and eight kilometres of groomed trails, thanks to funding from the city, Regional District of East Kootenay and Teck.
