Elkford Fire Rescue this morning responded to a fire at Rocky Mountain Elementary School in Elkford.

Firefighters attended the school at 7:45 a.m. after it was reported there was a strong smell of smoke.

“It seems there were several fires within the building, which were quickly controlled. Some of the building and contents have sustained damage, but thank goodness no one was hurt and the fire damage was as little as it could have been. We continue to monitor the scene and thank everyone for their assistance,” Elkford Fire Rescue reported on its Facebook page earlier this afternoon (June 2).
