Family Fishing Derby returns to Horseshoe Lake
The Family Fishing Derby for Kids With Cancer is returning to Horseshoe Lake for a fifth time Monday, Feb. 10.
Canceled last year due to poor ice on the lake, the popular fundraising event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Horseshoe Lake, located off the Fort Steele-Wardner Road.
Supported by the Canadian Cancer Society, all proceeds from the event will benefit children with cancer.
Some serious prizes are available for the dayâs best catches, including a boat and trailer for first prize, courtesy Fab-Rite Services Ltd.
The first prize for kids is a Playstation and a 50-inch television.
The dayâs event will once again feature winter games for kids, such as sledding and sliding, and the first ever Morrison Shooting Gallery. In addition, chili, hot dogs, hot chocolate and coffee will be available by donation.
Prizes will also be available for best-decorated toboggan and best-dressed dog!
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and $5 for seniors.
For tickets or to make a donation, call Shane at 250-919-4321. Tickets also available at Mountain Man & Barber’s on Ninth in Cranbrook, Kimberley Chamber of Commerce and Extra Foods Fernie.
