Fund started to help burn survivor

Friends of a Gold Creek woman badly burned in a fire last week have established a fund to help her family through this medical crisis.

The Tammy McDonald Medical Fund was begun late last week as Tammy was being treated for first to fourth degree burns at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

“On Wednesday evening, April 22, Tammy McDonald (pictured) was tending a controlled fire on her property when a lighter fluid bottle exploded in the grass beside her and she was engulfed in the flames,” outlines the gofundme account description.

“Tammy now suffers from first through third degree burns on at least 50% of her body, and is on a ventilator due to inhaling the smoke and flames. As soon as she is breathing on her own, the plan is to life flight her to Vancouver to visit the burn specialists there.

“During this difficult time, the last thing she or her family need to think about is money, so the hope is to reach our modest goal of $2,500 so to at least give them a little something to help out.

“There is no way of knowing what out of pocket costs they may encounter, and her healing journey will be long and painful. Please, if you can, donate. Money is often an unfortunate necessity during a medical crisis,” the gofundme account description concludes.

If you can help provide funds for the family, please go HERE to access the site.
