Let’s talk about suicide
Suicide is a critical public health issue in Canada: one of the top 10 leading causes of death, with higher risk for middle aged men, youth, seniors and First Nations-Inuit-Metis populations.
More women attempt suicide, but more men die by suicide. For each death by suicide, It has been estimated that the lives of seven to 10 bereaved ‘survivors’ are profoundly affected.
James Thomas is very authentic: he speaks of his sister who took her life and how he also experienced similar feelings after her death and the struggles that followed.
James spreads his words of empowerment, education and inspiration throughout Canada on the topics of mental health, addictions, sexual abuse, bullying and sexual identity and the link of isolation and hopelessness that often leads to suicide. The only way to help each other is to talk about suicide and become aware of how all of our actions create a reaction.
