Local United Way changes name
Twenty people attended the April 29 annual general meeting (AGM) of the United Way.
A review of the audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2013 was presented by Mike Adams, CA, Taylor Adams Chartered Accountants. Copies are available at the United Way office and will be posted on our website http://www.ourunitedway.ca/
Directors as pictured were unanimously voted to serve on the board for the coming year.
The Board of Directors at their April meeting voted to change the name of our United Way to United Way East Kootenay. This change will more accurately reflect our area recognized by United Way Canada which encompasses Creston, Cranbrook, Kimberley, Invermere, Radium, Elkford, Sparwood, Fernie, Elko, Canal Flats and many smaller communities in the surrounding areas.
The change of name process will proceed as moved unanimously by the membership at the AGM and once completed the new name will be used.
The agenda included updates from United Way initiatives Better at Home and Success By Six with both presentations invoking interest and animated discussion.
Thanks are extended to everyone who attended.
