New fire trucks for Elko and Jaffray
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) board of directors April 10 approved the purchase of fire engines from Ft. Garry Fire Trucks for the Elko Fire Department and Jaffray Fire Department.
The two fire trucks cost $247,432 and $237,500 (not including tax).
The RDEK was able to realize substantial savings by purchasing the two 2013 demo-model trucks together, noted board chair, Electoral Area C Director Rob Gay.
“Careful shopping” resulted in savings to taxpayers, he said.
