Rock Creek PO boxes ransacked
Residents living in the Rock Creek area east of Galloway may be wondering what happened to their mail.
And they might want to take steps to ensure they are not victims of identity theft, after the Canada Post mailboxes on Rock Creek Road near Galloway were broken into between Jan. 16 and 17, with parcels and mail likely stolen.
“This has been reported to Canada Post but as far as we know there are no leads as to who did this and why. There is a great potential for identity theft from the stolen documents and no one really knows what was in their mailboxes that was taken for sure,” Area resident Joy Robinson reported in a message to e-KNOW Jan. 17.
She questions if this a copycat crime inspired by events on the coast and in the East Kootenay.
“People should be on the lookout for suspicious activity around mailboxes,” Robinson suggested.
