Sixteen candidates vying for city council
Pay attention City of Cranbrook voters because you have choices, choices and more choices for city council and mayor in the Nov. 15 municipal election.
Following the Oct. 10 nomination deadline, a total of 16 people were announced as running for city council, along with three candidates seeking the mayorās chair, including incumbent first-term Mayor Wayne Stetski.
Challenging Stetski for mayor are Lee Pratt and John York.
Meanwhile, the six member city council will have several new faces as Angus Davis, Denise Pallesen and Bob Whetham will all step aside following the election.
Incumbent councilors Sharon Cross, Diana J Scott and Gerry Warner are seeking re-election.
A dozen first-time candidates are running for council, including Norma Blissett, Danielle Cardozo, James Elliott, Bob Faiers, Isaac Hockley, Anna Hudson, Brian Kostiuk, Alan MacBean, Lynn McIntosh, Rob Popoff, Brad Scriver and Tom Shypitka, while transplanted Creston Coun. Wes Graham seeks to continue his local government career on Cranbrook council.
