Three electoral area directors acclaimed

A number of potential Electoral Area election battles in the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) were nullifiedĀ at the close of the Oct. 10 nomination deadline for the upcoming Nov. 15 local election.

Acclaimed in the RDEK were Electoral Area A Director Mike Sosnowski, who will embark on a third term, Electoral Area E Director Jane WalterĀ isĀ heading for a second full term and Electoral Area G Director Gerry Wilkie will also embark on another term in office, his fourth.

However, there are plenty of other election battles just getting started now leading up to the general election.

With long-time Electoral Area B Director Heath Slee opting not to run again, voters in that area have a new choice to make Nov. 15, between Cougar Tree Road resident Morgan Dilts and Baynes Lake resident Stan Doehle filing nomination papers.

Electoral Area C Director and current RDEK board chair Rob Gay will seek a fourth term in office but he will have to earn more votes than challenger Don Flowers, of Wardner.

In the Columbia Valley, current Electoral Area F Director and RDEK board vice-chair Wendy Booth, a Fairmont Hot Springs resident, is seeking re-election and she has a challenger in Windermere resident Andrea Dunlop.
