Wednesday structure fire ruled accidental
Officials with Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services this morning completed their investigation into Wednesday night’s structure fire that sent one person to East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
The investigation has concluded that the fire was not suspicious but rather accidental in nature. The scene has been turned over to the insurance company.
Fire fighters quickly entered the building and were able to knock down and extinguish the fire.
At approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services responded to the 911 call about a structure fire on the 100 block of 8th Avenue South and upon arrival found the lone female occupant outside of the home. She was taken by ambulance to hospital and was treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns.
Officials with Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services were pleased with the response and remind the public about the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home and business. Regularly check the batteries and test your smoke alarms on a regular basis and replace your smoke alarms roughly every 10 years.
