The BC Wildfire Service continues to respond to the Dogtooth FSR wildfire (N21427), located approximately 17 kilometres southeast of the Town of Golden, approximately 12 kilometres south of the community of Nicholson and running along side the Columbia River.

The area restriction in place for this wildfire is being reduced in size, but there is still a continued need to protect the public in areas where ongoing fire suppression activities are taking place.

In the interest of public and responder safety, an area restriction is now in effect within the Dogtooth FSR area and remains in force until the earlier of 1 p.m. (MDT) on September 30, or until the Order is rescinded:

• Starting at the junction of Parson River Crossing FSR and road permit 90591 SEC101 at Point 1 (51° 2.384′, -116° 44.503′).
• Heading Northwesterly for 4,365 meters at a bearing of 333 degrees to the height of land, Point 2 (51° 4.476′, -116° 46.216′).
• Following the ridge Westerly to Point 3 (51° 8.294′, -116° 54.697′).
• Then heading Northeasterly for 4,887 meters at a bearing of 53 degrees to the Columbia River flood plain and the confluence with an unnamed stream at Point 4 (51° 9.897′, -116° 51.371′).
• Following the Columbia River and flood plain Easterly to Point 5 (51° 5.498′, -116° 42.739′).
• Heading 742 meters at a bearing of 201 degrees to the junction of road permits R05951 SEC76 and R05951 SEC16 at Point 6 (51° 5.125′, -116° 42.967′).
• Then heading 3,362 meters at a bearing of 170 degrees to the junction of road permits R05951 SEC04 and R05951 SEC37 at Point 7 (51° 3.340′, -116° 42.456′).
• Finally continuing for 2,078 meters at a bearing of 233 degrees to the junction of Parson River Crossing FSR and road permit 90591 SEC101 at Point 1 (51° 2.384′, -116° 44.503′).

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person:
Enters the area only in the course of:
(a) Travelling to or from his or her principal residence, that is not under an evacuation order;
(b) Travelling to or from his or her private or leased property for the purpose of accessing his or her secondary residence or property, that is not under an evacuation order;
(c) Using a highway as defined in the Highway Act;
(d) Travelling as a person acting in an official capacity as defined in s.56 of the Wildfire Act; or
(e) Travelling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression or enforcement patrol activities.

Failure to comply with Section 11 restricted area requirements may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
