Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, February 7 through February 13, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 59 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files our officers responded to.

All-terrain vehicle stolen from Fairmont golf course

On Monday, February 7 Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of a theft of a green EZ-Go all-terrain vehicle from a golf resort in Fairmont Hot Springs. Video footage confirmed the theft of the utility vehicle occurred on Friday, February 4 at about 10 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbia Valley RCMP or Crimestoppers.

Vehicle impounded for seven days after driver ticketed for excessive speed

On Thursday, February 10 at about 10 p.m., an officer was conducting patrols on Highway 93/95 near Invermere when he clocked a Toyota Scion travelling at 146 km/h in a 90 km/h speed zone. The driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Sun blinded driver rear-ends Porsche in Invermere

On Saturday, February 12 at about 3 p.m., Columbia Valley RCMP attended a two-vehicle collision on 7th Avenue in Invermere. Officers spoke to the drivers and established the driver of a Ford F150 had rear-ended a Porsche Cayenne after being blinded by the sun. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were drivable.

One person injured in two-vehicle crash near Numa Falls

On Sunday, February 13 at about 12 p.m., emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 93 near Numa Falls in Kootenay National Park. Witnesses reported the driver of a Lexus RX450 had slowed to turn into Numa Falls when the driver of a Toyota Tacoma swerved in order to avoid rear-ending the Lexus, which resulted in the Toyota rolling onto its side. A passenger in the Toyota was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The Toyota had to be towed form the scene.
