This past week, June 13 through June 19, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 60 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files our officers responded to.

Traffic stop yields passenger with outstanding arrest warrant and suspected illicit substance

On Monday, June 13 at about 9:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop with a Ford F350 pickup on Highway 93/95 near Invermere and discovered one of the passengers had an outstanding arrest warrant. The passenger was arrested and during the search of the individual, a quantity of a suspected illicit substance was located and seized.Ā  The adult male was released on an Appearance Notice to attend court on a later date.

Impaired driver stopped near Fairmont

On Monday, June 13 at about 11:45 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop with a Lexus RC300 on Highway 93/95 near Fairmont Hot Springs. The driver was not able to produce insurance or registration for the vehicle and the officer formed suspicion the driver had alcohol in his system. The driver complied with a roadside breath demand and blew two ā€œfails.ā€ As a result, the driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition, a violation ticket for failing to produce registration/insurance and his vehicle was impounded for 30-days.

Road check produces three-day immediate roadside driving prohibition.

On Thursday, June 16 at about 1 a.m., Columbia Valley RCMP officers conducted a road check on 4th Street in Invermere and while doing so, spoke to the driver of a Ford F350 pickup. While speaking to the driver, the officer noticed an open can of liquor in the cup holder and formed suspicion the driver had alcohol in his system. The driver complied with a roadside breath demand and blew two ā€œwarns.ā€ As a result, the driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside driving prohibition.

Fuel stolen from vehicle in Radium

On Saturday, June 18, the operator of a Hyundai Tucson discovered someone had cut the fuel line and stole approximately half a tank of fuel from the vehicle while it was parked at the visitor centre in Radium Hot Springs. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbia Valley RCMP or Crimestoppers.
