Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, August 29 through September 4, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 72 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files our officers responded to.

Items stolen from storage trailer in Windermere

On Tuesday, August 30, a business owner reported a theft from a storage trailer on Highway 93/95 near Bench Road in Windermere. An investigator attended the scene and confirmed someone had cut the padlock off the trailer to gain entry. An unknown amount of cash and change were stolen from the trailer. The scene was processed for fingerprints and the theft remains under investigation.

No injuries reported in park crash

On Saturday, September 3, at about 6:15 p.m., emergency crews responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park. The driver of a Subaru Legacy told officers he attempted to avoid an animal and drove off the roadway and down an embankment. No injuries were reported.

Minor injuries in single vehicle collision near Juniper Heights

On Sunday, September 4 at about 7:15 p.m., emergency crews responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 93/95 near Juniper Heights. The driver of a Nissan Xterra drove off the roadway and rolled the vehicle onto its roof. The driver and passenger were extricated from the vehicle and transported to the Invermere and District Hospital with minor injuries.

Challenge to Columbia Valley first responders to participate in the Terry Fox Run on September 18

The Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment would like to challenge other Columbia Valley first responders, including our fire departments, ambulance paramedics, Search & Rescue volunteers, Conservation Officers and Emergency Room staff to participate in the Terry Fox Run on September 18. Weā€™re looking forward to a great turnout this year.
