Driver leaves rolled vehicle and gets impaired driving warning
On January 19, Columbia Valley RCMP was called to a report of a single motor vehicle rollover where the driver was possibly intoxicated and left the scene in another vehicle. The driver was located at their residence. Police gave an ASD demand (approved screening device), the driver complied and provided a ‘Warn’ reading. They were issued a 24-hour driving prohibition along with a ticket for failing to remain at the scene and driving contrary to restrictions.
Intoxicated new resident tries to enter wrong home
In the early morning hours on January 19 Columbia Valley RCMP was called to a residence in Invermere as the homeowner was reporting an individual attempting to get into his house. The police attended and located an intoxicated person who claimed to have just moved to town and was confused on where they lived. Police were able locate and confirm the individual’s actual residence and ensured he got inside their residence safely.
Police attend call from person wanting to turn self in
On January 15, Columbia Valley RCMP received a call from an individual wanting to turn himself in as they were hurting their partner. Members attended the residence and spoke with both parties where they were informed the individual who called the police had taken some illicit drugs and was no longer in the right frame of mind and wanting to go to the hospital. Police provided a courtesy ride to the hospital where the individual was assessed by doctors.
