Crash closed Highway 93/95 at Dry Gulch

UPDATE: the highway is now open in both directions. More will be reported on this accident soon.

DriveBC is reporting that Highway 93/95 is closed in both directions five kilometres south of Radium Hot Springs due to an accident recovery and investigation.

Please note DriveBC is reporting that it is Highway 95 that is closed but that is not correct.

The closure near Dry Gulch began late last night following a bad motor vehicle incident.

No highway detour is available, meaning travellers arriving from Kootenay National Park or north on Highway 95 cannot travel south to Invermere or beyond at this time. An assessment is in progress.

“Columbia Valley RCMP are engaging a collision reconstructionist; therefore, it is unknown at this time when the highway will be reopen,” report Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment NCO Sgt. Bob Vatamaniuck.

Highways in the East Kootenay currently have compact snow, slippery sections and winter driving conditions according to DriveBC
