Columbia Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) was tasked yesterday, July 12, for hikers in distress in the Palliser River area, east of Invermere.

With waning daylight, a team responded with the help of Glacier Helicopters Invermere. The party was transported to safety just before night fell.

“When in the backcountry, always prepare for the unexpected. Temperatures can drop quickly in the mountains and afternoon thunderstorms can catch you off-guard. And remember, if you need our help, call earlier rather than later. It takes time to get to you and darkness may hinder our operations. Help us get you home safely,” CVSAR stated on social media.
