Edgewater Transfer Station opened once again
UPDATE: RDEK communications director Loree Duczek Sunday afternoon (Sept. 5) reported: “Great news! The materials arrived unexpectedly on Friday – site is open and no further closures are expected.”
Due to a delay in the delivery of materials, repair work at the Edgewater Transfer Station was not completed as expected this week.
As a result, the site has been temporarily re-opened and there is a waste bin in place that will be emptied frequently throughout the weekend.
The Edgewater Transfer Station will be closed on Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10.
“If you need to dispose of waste, please make a garbage run by Monday evening as we will have to re-close the site on Tuesday. There is a bear in the area and we need people to respect the closure next week,” said Village of Radium Hot Springs Mayor and Regional District of East Kootenay Director Clara Reinhardt.
The options during the closure will be to use the Brisco Transfer Station to the north or the Columbia Valley Landfill or Invermere Transfer Station to the south.
“Waste should never be dropped on the ground at the site. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to complete these necessary repairs,” Reinhardt added.
Repairs are necessary at the facility following a fire earlier this year.
