Fairmont crash under investigation
Columbia Valley RCMP is investigating a two-vehicle crash in Fairmont Hot Springs where the alleged at-fault driver left the scene.
On Thursday, October 17, at 12 p.m., police, Fairmont Fire Department and BC Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 93/95 and Fairmont Resort Road in Fairmont Hot Springs.
A north bound GMC pickup truck collided with a Dodge Caravan that failed to stop for traffic before entering the highway.
Two occupants of the pickup truck were transported to Invermere and District Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan drove away from the scene prior to emergency crews arriving, reported Sgt. Darren Kakuno, Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment commander.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan was located at a nearby residence and arrested for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
An impaired driving investigation was also initiated by East Kootenay Traffic Services RCMP. The investigation is ongoing.
