When the wind blows over Lake Windermere one can hear the soul of curling breathing.

From Friday, Jan. 18 to Sunday the 20th, numerous teams of hardy curlers will converge at Invermere’s Kinsmen Beach to vie for infamy and glory in the 36th annual Bonspiel on the Lake.

A signature Columbia Valley event, the bonspiel runs from morning to night, with playoffs on Sunday. It can be as fun to watch the games as it is to play in the always sold-out event. There is no admission.

A warming hut is located rink-side, with concession goodies available.
