ICAN ready to Raise the Woof again
The Invermere Community Hall will be a fun-filled place starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 22 when the Invermere Companion Animal Network (ICAN) hosts ‘Raise the Woof: A Stand Up Comedy Show’ and dinner for a second year.
Raise the Woof is a stand up comedy tour that helps give animals a voice through laughter while raising money and spreading awareness for animal rescues in Canada and the United States. Comedians Lamont Ferguson, Scott Laird and Andrew Rivers will be providing this year’s laughs.
Dave McGrath, our Master of Ceremonies, will keep the evening rolling while you enjoy a delicious meal provided by Anne Riches Catering, peruse the silent auction items, purchase balloons for the ‘pop the balloons’ event, play ‘Scoop the Poop’ and take part in a live auction conducted by Tex Lortscher.
This event is to help raise funds for a new ICAN companion animal rescue and adoption centre so we can continue the work we started in the Columbia Valley in 2007. Since that time we have assisted well over 800 animals, but our current shelter has become too small to accommodate the needs of the many rescued, abandoned, lost and guardian-surrendered animals we help in our valley.
Last year was a sellout so avoid the disappointment of missing out on this fun event by getting your tickets right away. Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased by stopping in at The Book Bar or phoning ICAN at 250-341-7888.
We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all the businesses and individuals who have donated items for this fundraiser and to the many volunteers who contribute their time, expertise and energy to put this event together and keep ICAN operating year after year. We simply cannot do what we do for needy companion animals in our valley without you!
