Invermere firefighters head to Okanagan to help
Four Invermere Fire Rescue (IFR) members are answering the call and deploying with an engine to the Okanagan, to assist with the McDougall Creek Wildfire, the fire department announced on social media August 19.
Captain Erik McLaughin, Captain Janice Dallaire, firefighter Brendan Garies, and firefighter Nick Melnyk (pictured above) are now en route and could be deployed for up to 14 days.
âMeanwhile, the rest of our crew members have stepped up to also maintain full coverage at home, which gives us the ability to deploy an engine crew without jeopardizing our regular duties and protection,â IFR said on social media.
âWe’re extremely proud and appreciative of the sacrifice this crew is making, to drop everything on a momentâs notice to help our fellow British Columbians in this devastating time of need. Be safe!â
