Invermere Transfer Station to close for paving

The Invermere Transfer Station will be temporarily closed for three days next week (Oct. 25-27) as the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) paves the site.

“The entire site will be closed beginning Tuesday morning and we hope to have the paving wrapped up by Thursday evening so that we can open for regular hours on Friday,” said RDEK Solid Waste Superintendent Jim Penson.

“Having the site paved will improve the experience for all users of the site. We appreciate the public’s understanding as we make this upgrade with as minimal an impact on services as possible.”

The RDEK will be removing all bins from the facility to assist in the paving process and will be returning them prior to reopening.

The Invermere Transfer Station is located at Industrial 1 Road in Athalmer, and is expected to reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct.28.

The Columbia Valley Landfill will remain open for regular hours and is located at 1884 Windermere Loop Road.
