Taft retains Invermere mayoralty
District of Invermere (DOI) Mayor Gerry Taft has been given another mandate with a victory over challenger, Councillor Allen Miller.
Taft nearly doubled up on Miller, capturing 717 votes compared to 389.
“Thank you everyone for the support! Amazing!” stated Taft on his Facebook page shortly after the news broke that he had won.
Joining Taft on the next district council will be re-elected first-term councillor Spring Hawes, who captured the most council votes. In addition, three new councilors will take their position at the DOI council table, with Justin Atterbury, Greg Anderson and Paul Denchuk getting the next most votes.
Dale Wilker narrowly missed the cut by 16 votes and two-term councillor Ray Brydon fell 121 votes shy of re-election.
