Third annual Invermere Film Festival Feb. 10-12

The third annual Invermere Film Festival runs Feb. 10 to 12 at the Columbia Valley Centre.

Opening the festival is Drinkwater, a delightful coming-of-age film set in Penticton that was the recent Audience Choice Winner at the Whistler Film Festival.

Directed by Stephen Campanelli (who will attend the festival to introduce the film and participate in a Q&A at the end), Drinkwater is a refreshingly upbeat and funny coming-of-age story.

Mike Drinkwater is lost. His father, Hank, is hardly the role model Mike deserves. A young woman moves to town, and their friendship gives them the courage to overcome their challenges.

The most unapologetically Canadian film at Whistler, it features a Zamboni, an extended Tim Horton’s drive-through scene, a subplot about a Wayne Gretzky rookie card, and the sounds of classic Canadian rockers from Doug and the Slugs to Loverboy.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2022 Invermere Film Festival.

The festival will be limiting capacity to 40% (B.C. guideline is 50%) to allow for maximum social distancing and safety.

“We will also be screening in the full auditorium to enable people to choose between the stadium seating and folding chairs on the floor to create better distancing opportunities,” festival organizers noted.

You will be required to show proof of vaccination to enter and wear a mask at all times except when seated.
