Jumbo rescue prompts reminder from CVSAR
Columbia Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) responded to an injured backcountry skier in the Jumbo area west of Invermere on Friday, December 6, with assistance from Bighorn Helicopters and mutual aid from Kimberley Search and Rescue.
The incident prompted CVSAR to post an important seasonal reminder on social media.
“As we approach the winter solstice on December 21, daylight hours are becoming shorter and shorter. This means helicopter rescues are more limited, and response times may increase due to weather or darkness.
“Always be prepared for the unexpected—carry enough gear to survive 24+ hours in case of emergency.”
