MLA Clovechok presents Rick Hoar with honour

It was my great honour to present Rick Hoar with the King Charles III Coronation medal for his service to his community and our province today (Sept. 1) at the Windermere Rod & Gun Club range.

During my time as MLA I’ve had the pleasure of working with Rick on a number of initiatives but the one very notable is the bighorn sheep overpass at Radium Hot Springs.

Rick Hoar and Kent Kebe approached me in 2020 and told me that we needed to do something about the sheep fatalities on Highway 93/95. Rick came with passion, science and solutions.

Things got moving quickly; we had meetings with Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and provincial biologist, the Slow Your Roll campaign started and we started to find funding. Today the province is building the sheep overpass.

Thank you Rick for all that you have done and will no doubt continue to do for the benefit of wildlife protection and conservation. I was also very pleased to be joined by Columbia River Revelstoke MLA candidate Scott McInnis for the presentation to a full house who gave Rick a well-deserved standing ovation.
