28th annual Car show and Shine this weekend
The Columbia Valley Classics Car Show and Shine returns to Radium Hot Springs and Invermere this weekend for its 28th running.
Things get rolling at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 with Rockin’ on Main at the Radium Hot Springs Visitor Centre, going until 7:30 p.m. with Marty and Eli performing. In addition, the Radium Fire Department is holding a fundraising barbecue from 4 to 8 p.m. at the fire hall (4878 Radium Blvd.). And expect to see surprise performances around the village by the Blues Brothers Too.
Saturday is show day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Springs Golf Course driving range.
In conjunction with the car show is Market on Main from noon to 4 p.m. at the visitor centre.
The annual cruise to Invermere, not sanctioned by the car club, takes place at 4 p.m., with organizers asking participants to know there will be a police presence with “zero tolerance” for mechanized hi-jinx.
The annual dance returns to the Invermere Curling Rink (8 p.m. to 1 a.m.), with a free bus service from Radium to Invermere and back.
