Stage 2 Watering Restrictions on for Radium
Unfortunately, due to continued high turbidity and high water demand, which are both causing stress on the Village of Radium Hot Springs water treatment plant capacity, effective immediately a Stage 2 watering restriction is in effect per Water Use and Conservation Bylaw No. 505, 2024.
Stage 2 watering resections are in effect immediately in the Village of Radium Hot Springs — per the Village Water Use and Conservation bylaw. This move is to protect the village’s water supply for drinking, domestic, and fire fighting priority needs.
STAGE 2 — TWICE A WEEK WATERING
With the exception of Food Plants and Gardens, watering of Lawns, Trees and Landscaped Areas is restricted to use of a hand-held hose with an automatic shut-off mechanism, hand-held canister, or use of a sprinkler, A Drip Irrigation system or Underground Irrigation System as follows:
Even numbered civic addresses may water on Mondays and Thursdays between the hours of 6 to 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. to Midnight; and
Odd numbered civic addresses may water on Tuesdays and Fridays between the hours of 6. to 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. to Midnight.
Outdoor watering of Food Plants and Gardens by hand-held hose with an automatic shut-off mechanism or hand-held canister is permitted as follows:
Even numbered civic addresses may water on even numbered calendar days between the hours of 6 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.; and
Odd numbered civic addresses may water on odd numbered calendar days between the hours of 6 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.
All other outdoor use of water is prohibited.
Permission to fill a pool or hot tub must be requested from the Village’s Public Works Department.
Over the past several days village water consumption has routinely been about five million litres per day — approximately two Olympic sized pools full of water — primarily for groundskeeping.
The village’s water plant cannot maintain this level of production.
