Ray and Joy and 100 years of life-life-life!

By Anne Jardine

Joy Bond and Ray Crook are two of Invermereā€™s treasured elders.

Joy still digs in her own garden and maintains her house; Ray also lives independently in a small apartment and can be seen most days out and about on his electric scooter.

Both enjoy a variety of social connections, and they are regular contributors to the work of the Windermere District Museum. Both are witty, charming, and full participants in the community.

Ray and Joy are honoured at a whole series of parties this week with family, friends, Windermere Valley Shared Ministry (their Anglican and United Church congregation with many other ecumenical friends joining in for the party), and the Windermere District Historical Society’s celebration still to come.

Happy Birthday Ray and Joy!
