RDEK Columbia Valley office shut after chemical spill
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) reports it’s Columbia Valley office is presently closed and is being vented following a small chemical spill in the water treatment plant.
“The spill itself has been cleaned up and venting is underway. Per our standard emergency response plan, the building has been cleared and the fire department has been dispatched to ensure the building is safe for re-entry prior to allowing staff or the public back in,” said Lindsay McMahon, RDEK Communications Coordinator.
All employees were able to safely exit the building and there were no injuries.
The office will remain closed until further notice.
