Rock slope remediation work in KNP this month

Rock slope remediation work is occurring on the southern end of Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park (KNP) throughout the month of September.

This work is critical to ensure the highway is protected, preventing accidents, and avoiding damage to infrastructure.

Here is what you need to know:

Work will be in operation daily, seven days a week, during daylight hours (7 a.m. to 9 p.m.). No work will be conducted on long weekends.

Work will occur at various sites between Kootenay west gate and Olive Lake. Work will only occur at one site at a time.

Motorists should expect delays. A speed reduction to 30km/h will be in place for the duration of the project at each site. Regular closures may be required to complete work but will be limited to a maximum of 20 minutes.

The work is anticipated to be completed by September 30.
