Semi-truck crash knocks out power in north valley
Members of the Edgewater Fire Department are on the scene of a single-vehicle incident that has prompted the closure of Highway 95 at Columbia Road in Edgewater.
The highway is expected to be closed until at least 4 p.m. after a semi-truck left the road and collided with a power pole.
There is a power outage in the area between Edgewater and Spillimacheen as a result.
BC Hydro reports 604 customers are impacted by the outage and estimates power will be restored by 8 p.m.
There are no injuries as a result of the accident, and crews are hoping to open the highway to single-lane alternating traffic later this afternoon, the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) reported.
