Banff Film Festival tour returning to Key City Theatre
The most wonderful time of year is back – and they aren’t talking about Christmas.
The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour is back for its 30th year, and Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook can’t be more excited to continue the tradition of sharing the wonder with you!
The Film Fest will be hosted at Key City Theatre on Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7 starting at 7 p.m.
The film selection committee has hand-picked a diverse line-up to help you wind down after holidays, get together with the community, and get stoked for a new year! Each night of the tour offers a range of films from the tips of mountains to sea level, from the discovery of passion to connecting with the hearts of the film subjects.
You can’t help but fall in love with the beauty of our planet and these incredible films created from across the world. Here’s just a small sample of what they have to offer.
The Nine Wheels
The story of the Schneeberger family aka The Nine Wheels: life with a disability, brotherly love, the devotion of parents and ultimately, living life one day at a time.
Walking on Clouds
In the city of Praia Grande, Santa Catarina, Brazil, Rafael Bridi attempts the highest highline record in the world by setting his line above the clouds.
A Baffin Vacation
Erik Boomer and Sarah McNair-Landry set off on a 45-day expedition through Baffin Island in search of stunning cliffs to climb and unexplored rivers to kayak (pictured above).
Tempo II. Movements in Jungle
A conceptual exploration of the shared feelings between music and mountains, set in the world’s largest urban jungle, exploring styles of Brazilian drumming and trail running.
Volunteer organizer Trixie Pacis noted, “The Banff World Tour is an incredible opportunity to gather with friends and family to immerse in the best mountain culture and adventure films of the year. There’s no other indoor activity that inspires adventure and stoke like a weekend watching the Banff World Tour!”
Tickets can be purchased through the Key City Theatre Box Office online, over the phone, or in person for $30 per night, or $50 for a weekend pass.
