BC Book Prize finalists visit local schools

BC Book Prize finalists are hitting the road for events throughout the province between April 20 to 24.

Kevin Chong, author of Northern Dancer: The Legendary Horse That Inspired a Nation (Viking), shortlisted for the Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize, and Heather Tekavec, Stop, Thief! (Kids Can Press), shortlisted for the Christie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize visited Invermere’s David Thompson Secondary School and J.A. Laird Elementary School yesterday (April 22).

They are in Cranbrook this morning, Thursday, April 23 at Gordon Terrace Elementary School and Mount Baker Secondary School. This afternoon they visit Kimberley’s Selkirk Secondary School and McKim Middle School.

The 31st annual Lieutenant Governor’s BC Book Prizes Gala will be held at the Pinnacle Vancouver Harbourfront Hotel on Saturday, April 25.

Winners in all seven categories will be announced and the recipient of the 2015 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence, Betty Keller, will be celebrated. British Columbia’s Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Judith Guichon, will be in attendance.
