Bowen Byram traded to Buffalo Sabres

Cranbrook National Hockey League product Bowen Byram has been traded by the Colorado Avalanche to the Buffalo Sabres.

TSN’s Pierre Lebrun reported this afternoon Byram has been dealt to Buffalo for forward Casey Mittelstadt.

A Stanley Cup winner as a rookie with the Avalanche in 2022, Byram has this season compiled eight goals and 12 assists in 55 games.

Byram joins a team with two recent first overall draft pick defensemen in Owen Power (2021) and Rasmus Dahlin (2018).

Six-year veteran Mittelstadt was leading Buffalo in scoring with 14 goals and 33 assists in 62 games at the time of the deal, two days ahead of the NHL trade deadline. He fills the second line centre spot the Avalanche needed to upgrade.
