Bucks drop first BCHL game to Vees
The Cranbrook Bucks skated in their first-ever regular season BC Hockey League (BCHL) game April 3 against the Penticton Vees.
Playing in the ‘Penticton Pod’ at the South Okanagan Events Centre, the Bucks fell 6-3 to the host Vees.
Cam Reid notched the Bucks’ first regular season goal at 12:56 of the second period, with Walker Gelbard and Zeth Kindrachuk assisting.
Kindrachuk set up AJ Vasko for the Bucks’ second goal, 3:30 into a wild third period, with the Vees adding four in the frame.
Tyson Dyck notched the Bucks’ third goal with 3:11 remaining, with Noah Quinn and Gelbard helping out.
Nathan Airey stopped 33 of 38 shots. The Vees’ sixth marker was into an empty net.
Thanks to an April 2 victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters, the Vees sit atop the Penticton Pod standings.
The Bucks are back in action today (Sunday, April 4) against the Smoke Eaters. Game time is 5 p.m. local time.
