Café Femenino sold exclusively by CFUW-Cranbrook Club in the East Kootenay
Café Femenino is a fresh, fair trade, organic coffee grown by women who own coffee farms in Peru and Guatemala. The CFUW-Cranbrook sold 50 pounds freshly roasted Café Femenino at their 27th Annual Bazaar Saturday November 3 and are bringing in another shipment for the Friends of the Library’s Magazine Sale at the Manual Training School attached to the Cranbrook Public Library, Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2.
Café Femenino is roasted at the award-winning Shuswap Coffee Company from fresh beans sold by woman farmers. “As the Shuswap Coffee Company does not warehouse their bean shipments, we get the freshest roasted beans and ground coffee possible,” said Cathryn Henley, President of the CFUW-Cranbrook Club.
Henley was proud to say that the coffee they sold at the recent Bazaar was roasted on Monday, shipped to them on Monday night, and the club sold it on Saturday. “You cannot get much fresher than that,” she added. “Being that it is grown by Peruvian and Guatemalan women who own the farms serves the CFUW mission statement,” said Henley.
Beyond being fresh, fair trade, organic and raised by women, is that the CFUW-Cranbrook Club earns $4.00 for every one pound bag sold. “We use those funds in our community,” stated Henley. “Everything we raise goes to all the many projects and programs of the Cranbrook club and stays in the East Kootenay. We sponsor the Annual Woman of the Year Award, give monies to the Mount Baker Secondary School and the College of the Rockies Scholarship Funds, support the Science Fair, the Friends of the Library and in the past supported many more organizations. Our next big event is, in fact, the 28th Annual Woman of the Year Award slated for early March.”
