Catch Heavy Lighters’ version of Bluegrass Jan. 25

Brackish Betty

The first Fisher Peak Winter Ale concert of 2023 is Wednesday, January 25, with the original, bluegrass-inspired music of The Heavy Lighters from Nelson.

Expect high energy from this almost new (2021) four-piece band that has written a catalogue of original songs that are captivating audiences across the Kootenays. The Heavy Lighters don’t shy away from pushing the boundaries of bluegrass to give audiences an exceptional experience all while staying rooted in the earnest songwriting which forms their foundation.

Opening the “small but mighty concert” is Cranbrook’s own Brackish Betty, a performer who brings soulful, bluesy acoustic rock with salty, honest lyrics and powerful riffs. She has entertained in venues from the East to West Kootenay and all-over B.C. and Southern Alberta.

Winter Ale concerts are presented once per month from January to May since 2017 as a collaboration between Fisher Peak Performing Artists Society (FPPAS) and Key City Theatre. Each show features remarkable artists in an exceptional venue with delicious local craft beer products available for those who wish to partake.

Seating capacity for the theatre’s gallery stage is limited to just 70 per show. Tickets are priced at $35 or just $30 for FPPAS members. All five intimate concerts are available at a discount in a subscription package, come with a free FPPAS membership, and are sponsored by the Fisher Peak Brewing Company.

Tickets are available at the Key City Theatre Box Office.
