Celebrating all Types now showing at Key City Art Gallery

Celebrating all Types is showing at Key City Theatre Art Gallery from April 3 – 30.

This letterpress exhibit aims to inspire people of all walks of life to reflect on equity, diversity, and inclusion, and take action to help make a more inclusive future.

Key City Managing Director Galen Olstead added, “At the Key City Theatre, we are committed to creating a more inclusive future by celebrating and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion. The Celebrating All Types exhibit inspires us to reflect on the importance of hearing all voices and recognizing the value of every individual. We are proud to host this exhibit and hope it encourages action towards a more just and fair society.”

Celebrating all types started with a group of artists that attended the 2021 Hamilton Wood Type and Print Museum Wayzgoose.

They were invited to exchange posters exploring the creative possibilities of being inclusively in community with one another. In 2022 it expanded to the design community in the form of hands-on letterpress printing workshops that generated a public art installation at the AIGA National Design Conference in Seattle.

This exhibit, which is generously sponsored by Fernie Pride, is particularly poignant in our community right now.  It is a reminder that it takes all voices to make a fair and just society and that no “type” can be left out of the discussion.  With pieces ranging from gentle encouragements to perception challenging statements, and everything in between, it is truly an exhibit with a message for everyone.

Public can view the gallery during Key City Theatre’s box office hours from 12-6 p.m., Monday through Friday or during one of their shows.
