Celebrating at Cranbrook Arts
Cranbrook Arts invites the public to help us celebrate, for we have much to celebrate with you, a new book, a new art space and much new programming for the winter.
By now, many will be aware of the collaborative publication of Fourteen Trumpeting Elephants, the tale of Cranbrook’s famous Ed the Elephant. The book was written and illustrated by local people most of whom will be present at the Book Launch December 15 (2 – 4 p.m.) at 1401 5th St N.
We hope you will stop by to hear a reading from the book, meet the artists, have them sign your book and enjoy some Christmas goodies.
This special book launch will take place in Cranbrook Arts newly renovated space, in our recently acquired building. Doubling as an Open House for members of the public who wish to see the new facility, this event is the first public event to be held at 1401 5th St. N.
The building can be easily found to the north side of the Bowling Alley. While phase one is all but finished, Cranbrook Arts still has several phases to full completion of this massive project, which will include an exhibition gallery and eventually a renovation of the exterior.
Cranbrook Arts is always ready to welcome new volunteers and or contributors to the society in this exciting time of their history. This long-awaited project was made possible by Columbia Basin Trust and Cultural Spaces Canada as well as our own fund raising. We are very excited to show off our new practical art room with its five sinks, gleaming black tile and big space.
New programming is our third reason to celebrate with you. With great new capacity, we are in a position to serve the community with quality arts programming. Our Winter Program Guide is now available at the gift shop on Baker Street and on our Facebook Page.
There is something for everyone from tot to senior; Paverpol sculpting, Thrum mittens, watercolours and much more.
We look forward to seeing you Sunday, December 15, from 2-4 p.m. or in the New Year at one of our classes.
