CFES draws attention to fire extinguisher recall

Last week, Kidde in conjunction with Health Canada announced a voluntary recall to replace certain Kidde fire extinguishers.

As a result of this recall, Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services (CFES) wants to ensure local residents and businesses are aware of the recall, and which fire extinguishers are involved.

According to the Kidde recall notice, two styles of Kidde fire extinguishers are involved: certain plastic handle fire extinguishers and push-button Pindicator fire extinguishers. Kidde has indicated that certain fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to activate, posing a risk of failure to discharge. In addition, the nozzle can detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard.

You are asked to please not contact the City of Cranbrook or Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services if you have questions about the recall. You must contact Kidde directly.

To view a complete list of all the recalled Kidde fire extinguishers, please visit the Kidde website @ www.kiddecanada.com and click on “Product Safety Recall Notice.” You can also contact Kidde directly by phone at 1-855-233-2882.
