CFES keep Travelodge fire to single room
Quick response by members of Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services (CFES) contained a structure fire at the Travelodge to a single room this morning (Sept. 1).
A single room and its contents suffered significant damage from the fire, and adjacent rooms were affected by smoke. One occupant was transported to East Kootenay Regional Hospital by BC Emergency Health Services for burns and smoke exposure, while two others experienced smoke injury while helping other occupants escape the fire.
The occupants of the Travelodge have been allowed back into the rooms unaffected by this fire.
Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services is extremely grateful for the assistance of Travelodge management and staff, RCMP, the BC Ambulance Service, the Emergency Social Services (ESS) team and Community Connections in helping take care of those impacted by this morning’s fire.
Investigators will begin their work on determining the cause of the fire Wednesday afternoon.
The fire occurred one-year to the day of the old Legion/May May Restaurant fire.
