Chamber smashes Turkey Drive goal
The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce today (Dec. 15) celebrated another smashing success.
Gathered at the Heritage Inn and Conference Centre for the return of the Christmas Luncheon Meeting, chamber members learned the annual Turkey Drive, fuelled by head plucker Steve Zsillei, had smashed its goal of $60,000 – bringing in $85,000 to help the less fortunate in our community enjoy Christmas.
This year’s Mother Plucker (the person who raised the most money) is Mike Adams.
The chamber raised $91,065 in 2020 and $50,391 in 2019.
Brandon Laurie was Mother Plucker in 2020, while Karin Penner reigned supreme from 2015 to 2019. Nella Rounsville earned the title as Mother Plucker the first two years the award was given – 2013 and 2014.
Additionally, the chamber today announced this year’s Citizen of the Year as radio personality and volunteer Dennis Walker. Please see our separate upcoming story for more.
