City gives kudos to Waterworks Team after difficult weekend

In the face of cold temperatures and demanding conditions, the Waterworks team with City of Cranbrook Public Works has gone above and beyond over the past few days.

After an exhausting 26-hour shift on Wednesday, January 15 and Thursday, January 16 to successfully complete the chlorine manifold rebuild at the Phillips Reservoir and the unanticipated Boil Water Advisory that followed, the team did not miss a beat.

The work continued to come in fast since Friday, where an unusually high number of water main breaks occurred at the same time. The crew has already tackled four major water main breaks, with two more to go—and with the cold snap, we suspect a few more may pop up this week.

“The commitment, expertise and teamwork of our staff have kept our water system running despite all of these obstacles, and their tireless work is a testament to their professionalism,” said Mayor Wayne Price.

“This is the kind of dedication in our city staff that helps make our community strong. Thank you!”

“We, as the city, greatly appreciate the patience and understanding of our residents and the business community impacted by the Boil Water Advisory in place late last week.”
