City parks and trails reopened

Public access is now open to all City of Cranbrook-owned parks and trails following changes made by the Southeast Fire Centre around the Rocky Mountain Forest District backcountry restrictions Friday afternoon.

The public can now access: Idlewild Lake, Elizabeth Lake, NorthStar Rails to Trails, the Cranbrook to Wardner Destination Trail (Isadore Canyon – pictured above) and the city’s Spray Irrigation property. The Cranbrook Community Forest is also open again for public use.

Although the backcountry ban has been lifted, a number of restricted areas are still in place. For more information about the changes, please visit the Southeast Fire Centre website. Residents and visitors are reminded that both the campfire ban and the off-road vehicle prohibition remain in effect.

The City of Cranbrook appreciates the patience and understanding of our residents and visitors during these recent closures. Please continue to use care while using the backcountry, parks and trails.
